History
Our Law Firm was founded by José A. Otero Bañados in July 21st 1923. In 1957, when Miguel Otero Lathrop returned after achieving a Masters Degree in Compared Law in United States of America, our Firm started to develop its international practice, advising a vast variety of international and multinational companies conducting business in Chile, and also Chilean companies and clients doing business abroad, both in United States and Europe.
Development
We are a Law Firm with 90 years of history, which keeping our values and traditions intact, has at the same time, renewed and adapted to the changes of business and law world.
Each generation of lawyers from our Firm has maintained the mission of giving an integral and efficient legal services to our clients, always understanding the sense of their business and giving a special attention to preventing and anticipating eventual issues, integrating client´s objectives and needs. Furthermore, we are members and actively participate in different international alliances and associations.
Therefore, the Firm belongs to ILP (International Lawyer Partners) network, an association that is currently formed by 6 Law Firms from Chile, Ecuador, Germany, Spain, Mexico and Peru and to the International Alliance E-iure, a network of law firms with international departments, present in 17 countries all over the world, mainly in Europe and Latin America.
Likewise, we are members of AEA International Lawyers Network, a large worldwide network of lawyers with members in most of the countries. No other network or association covers as many countries as AEA. The association originally started as an association of European lawyers and has been expanding all over the world.
We are also members of Justinian Lawyers, a select group of law firms from various countries around the world. It is an exclusive network of law firms with only one firm per country.
